De Woude
De Woude is a small island in the Alkmaardermeer with 165 inhabitants that you can only reach by ferry.
It is a protected nature reserve / birding area.
If you like birds and nature, you can indulge yourself here! In particular the Black-tailed Godwit is abundant here.

Activities
De Woude is centrally located in the province of Noord-Holland. You have many options: a day at the beach, renting a ‘whisper’ boat or visiting, for example, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Alkmaar or the Zaanse Schans.
You can also choose to go for a lovely walk. You can walk around the island. This is a 7.2-kilometer walk (4.5 miles) and, depending on the pace of the walk, it will take about 1.5 hours.
It is also possible to make various cycling trips in the surrounding area. We have two electric bicycles that you can rent.
There is no public transport available. Although you are close to everything here, a car is still necessary.
